I cut my old air cooled exhausted in half and knocked out the cat( which imo made a a massive difference)
I as thinking of doing the same with my 15plate LC has anyone else done it? If so what do you think? Has it made a difference? Would like to hear anyone's

Not many 15 plate bikes need an MOT just yet

My 14 plate GS just had its first test

It has a full Akra system, it was not examined in any way.

I don't intend to take it out completely just cut it in half and knocked out the inners and have I welded up again
Pretty much what I did with my air cooled and it never failed a mot in 40k miles of me owning it

emmisions are not tested on bikes over here....so cat or no cat...no differance

When I got on 06 gsa it "seemed" like it was struggling to breath, I had had issues with dpf's in cars before hand and I'd removed those and improved them
So thought what the hell and did so with the bike now I'm not saying it gave it anymore bhp and or it was faster 0-60
But what it do was made it feel
A lot more free flowing It revved easier and whether it was me or not it felt a little better in the midrange
People might slate me on here and say it "can't/wont"of made a difference but believe it did
Enough for me to want to hack my LC to bits

Sorry, which mot testing station is checking the emissions on your motorbike, as I need to report them to the DVSA.

Sorry gentlemen obviously talking complete shite!!
I do have a history with this problem as I've done it before.

To error is apparently a male trait or so my wife used to tell me !

From memory, vehicles after aug 75 are tested but; hybrids, 2 strokes, quadracycles and vehicles with less than 4 wheels are exempted from emmisions testing.

I do recall being stopped many years ago by a Police Officer in a Panda car, who intimated quite loudly that "my motorbike was smoking."

Yes, I replied it's a two stroke.

Off I duly smoked on my X7.

Ah the good old days !

My gsa has been decatted (replacement headers) which make more of a difference, in my view, than an end can does.

Obviously the titanium Akra (minus baffle) is because I'm anti social !

Think it's a done deal then zorst off flappy thing disconnected and cat knocked out
Ready and waiting for a cheap akro to pop at some point :-)

I think if I was looking for more power from my bike, I would then realise I've bought the wrong bike.......then trade it in.

I had a 2013LC GS with no CAT for just over 3 years and 24K miles - it had Remus headers and Akra end can (which also got rid of the daft flappy valve thing) and I had it remapped at Hilltop.

I reckn it rodemuch better after the decat, throttle response was linear and smooth and it had oodles of torque with no flat spots. It also reduced fuel consumption and I as getting around 55mpg even when thrashing it around the Alps.

Never had any problems with servicing or MOT at my local dealer.

I'm not looking for more power if that were the case I'd of bought a XR
All I was asking if there was anyone out there that had done the same as I'd done on my 06
On there newer LC and wondered if it had caused any problems? Due to being a newer spec with a arse load more sensors etc
But! From most of the replies it seems my question has been answered so out with the hacksaw and a hammer and chisel this weekend
Cheers for the feedback gents

Would it not just be worth getting a set of decat headers ? Not sure how its going to sound with that big hollow chamber.

For what its worth, disconnecting the valve and removing the Cat on mine made the bike much louder. A lot more noise on deceleration too and a loud backfire if you drop right down the revs

I fitted remus de cat headers, it did make it more free revving, also hilltop re map,
Diddnt want to cut the originals ,
cant see why it wont work taking the core out though,
