Try the Fallas in Denia or better still Valencia. Spectacular, but properly bonkers.
The huge fires at the annual fiesta are said to be a form of atonement, when symbolic structures are torched in the urban centre. Thankfully, the Bomberos douse the buildings with water beforehand. The first & last time we attended, the local firework factory near Valencia had just exploded, killing 5 workers IIRC.
Buoyed by alcohol & the madness of the moment I wouldn't put it beyond them.
In the good old bad old days of attended filling stations in Spain, smoking whilst filling customers cars/bikes was pretty commonplace. Thankfully the practice has now ceased.
