How many of you, / have any of you removed teh centre stand?
Ive been out today and when cornering really hard or well over, pus when bottoming out on sharp dips, teh centre stand is decking out.
Im 17 ston, was riding one-up and i havbe the preload set pretty much near max. The suspension is in great fettle and feels good and firm, but its a bit un nerving when the bugger decks out.

Any advice please?

Convert this to a Poll and you'll find out nice and easy.

The center stand used to touch now and again while going round bends that had an unexpected dip in it with a pillion. Occasionally touched while getting a shift on round sharp bends riding solo which wasn't pleasant seeing as there's no give. This was all on my 12GS. Have now a lowered 12GSA which is actually a bit lower than the 12GS so more chance of it touching so I took the stand off to play safe (too fiddle to shorten it compared to the side stand). Miss the convenience of checking the rear tire and oil but other than that I'd rather the extra clearance.

Invest in knee sliders, then really hang off the bike in bends - arse off the saddle stuff - and keep the bike more upright. Dragging your knee through the bends means that if the centre stand digs in and lifts one (or both) wheels off the deck, you can use your knee to support the bike and keep going. :augie

If you try this method, let me know and I'll come along with a camera :D

Very helpful.

I can diet I suppose, but at nearly 6 foot 5 I wont lose more than a couple of stone.

Thanks for the useful, constructive comments. Tossers, quite apt really.

Do it in the dark and get someone to take a photo of it, then post it on the site. It wont cure the problem but the sparks will make for an excellent picture!:thumb
