Ok i dont have ESA and am having problems with the centre stand grounding when riding 2 up with the memsahib ! (she is not fat )

Any advice appart from the obvious 3 things ?

You say she's not fat. But are you? :augie
What's your combined weight?

Suspension fekked?
our combined weight is 22stone so no im not a pie monster either !
suspension is not fekked as only 9 months old
it is only only grounding when "good lean angles" but it is disconcerting and scares the shit out of her who must be listened to thro autocom

Mine had a wierd thing like this but apart from me being a pie monster :D

When whoever fitted the remus before I got it they hadn't got the Exhaust clamp in the right place and it wasn't allowing the centre stand to go fully up

Dramatically improved now it's right up where it should be

Yep damping and pre load on max !

Your damping shouldn't need to be on max, just wind it up a bit. Preload should be on max however.
With 'posh' suspension too much rebound damping could in theory mean that the suspension progressivley locks down over a series of bumps as it can't recover in time but that's not what's going on with OEM shocks (and I think the damping adjustment is only comprssion on OEM).

I think yer shock is fecked as I can't think what else could be causing the stand to touch down :nenau

the standard suspension is too bouncy for spirited 2 up riding IMO.

Compare the stand's foot lever with a known good one. It might have got bent. My stand has been taken off for powder coating (bad winter rash), but TBH Im not missing it. Its certainly nothing a cheap paddock stand or wheel chock won't solve.

I sometimes have the same problem when riding with a pillion, I am tosser sized at 6’ 6” and nearly 20 stones but my wife (pillion) is only 5’ 2” and 8.5 stones.
I easily solved the grounding problem by telling my wife she is too fat to ride with me and if she wants to be my pillion again she must lose half of her body weight.

Thanks fellas
Looks like the only real solution to this is to go a bit steadier and take into account the memsahibs desire to remain uprightish

Fit Knobblies it'll do two things first it'll raise the bike a wee bit

Secondly you won;t want to ride that far over on them :D :D :D

When 2 up, my sidestand grounds on the left, and centre stand grounds on the right. This only happens when really leaning over a long way.

Have you got the standard cans and downpipes, or have you changed them??

My Akro can causes the stand to drag far too easily.

It may be a different Akro, as I have a 2005 model, with Akro can and Remus headers (all fitted by the previous owner). With the Remus headers and OE can everything is fine. With the Akro can the centre stand grounds like crazy when 2 up. The last time Mrs Miff heard that kind of scraping noise was when we got knocked off the bike. She didn't like hearing it again. The OE can has been re-installed.
It's more than loud enough with the Remus headers anyway :D

Stand

I believe your riding like a hooligan!, what about the stand springs? does it go up tight and not sag down?. That would cause the prob.

Mine has Akra headers and cans but if anything the stand bump stop is a bit high. As for hooligan riding - the bike made me do it honest. :beerjug:

Mine started hitting the ground when on my own when it bent a couple of weeks ago. Left hand side only. :nenau
