Hi All,
A while ago while browsing another site
I read a thread about how most GS11xx centre stands are neglected/worn due to the fact it's a total PITA to lube them because you need to take them off to do it, I made a mental note to have a look next time I got a chance, then forgot!
Finally got round to having a look & really glad I did, my bikes got 35Kkms on it but the stand & bushings were in a bit of a mess, very little lube & already showing signs of "galling"
though I do tend to use the centre stand a lot.
The stand swivels on steel bushes with "O" rings to keep dirt out, these also prevent any applied lube going in. I simply drilled a 2mm countersunk hole in the stand at each side (between the O rings!) to use a conical grease gun on now & again, could put grease nipples on but would probably be overkill.
The sidestand has a small lube hole, wonder why the centre stand doesn't?
