Hi All,

A while ago while browsing another site :augie I read a thread about how most GS11xx centre stands are neglected/worn due to the fact it's a total PITA to lube them because you need to take them off to do it, I made a mental note to have a look next time I got a chance, then forgot!

Finally got round to having a look & really glad I did, my bikes got 35Kkms on it but the stand & bushings were in a bit of a mess, very little lube & already showing signs of "galling" though I do tend to use the centre stand a lot.

The stand swivels on steel bushes with "O" rings to keep dirt out, these also prevent any applied lube going in. I simply drilled a 2mm countersunk hole in the stand at each side (between the O rings!) to use a conical grease gun on now & again, could put grease nipples on but would probably be overkill.
The sidestand has a small lube hole, wonder why the centre stand doesn't? :nenau

Nipples!!!!

Ok, calm down their grease nipples, this site! could hear heavy breathing start even when I typed it!!. Yes I did this on my 1150 also put one on the prop stand, over kill possibly but they are in the best place to collect water
every other sort of crap.
dave ( I hate christmas) GS.
