Another 'problem' on the K1 is that ( excuse the generic photo ) the gearbox to frame , a 10mm cap bolt is ( or not sure if loctited in ) seized. Anyone know if this is a common problem on K series as I'd hate to snap that big lug off the gearbox I don't need to remove it but it also is holding on a crappy tax disc holder. Does one simply put a little heat on it with a longer bar on the socket...or leave it well alone !!
Finally, anyone know the exact colour yellow ( or indeed where to buy it ) for K1 wheels as also in the generic photo attached?
The frame to gearbox bolts are not loctited but heat will help free it.
As for the yellow powder-coat, I've searched and searched and have never found a code for it. For small touch-up jobs I've found that a selection of Humbrol model enamels and some patience works:
John Deere do a yellow in aerosol cans that is close:
If you need to do a whole wheel or gearbox casing.
Thanks Mike,
Paintwork on the wheels is only where a tyre monkey has yanked the stick-on balance weights off and subsequently took some yellow with it !!
I was lucky looked worse with all the crap on there.....just some surface rust...which nicely cleaned up with wire wheel; rust treated and enamel painted; sorted
