hi all
I have been told by a guy I have my 05 gs with that a centre stand bolt has snapped and along with bushes it will cost me €150 to put right. I wasn’t expecting that or it needing the rear shock rebuilt. Also the driveshaft needed all in 5 months of ownership and less than 1000 km put on it.

its german - they are designed to extort money at every possible opportunity

that's why they have a thriving economy - they have to buy the very best engineers to design in quite so many failure modes - then the have the best analysts, accountants and legal team to manage the nightmare of profitability in the face of vehicles designed to self implode - and spend phenomenal sums on marketing too keep the dream alive

I’ll be probably getting the work done as I don’t fancy having a shaft break on me. Knowing my luck. It’s like being repeatedly kicked in the nuts and asked do you enjoy the pleasure 😬

So a tenner in parts and £140 of labour for the centre stand. Could you do it yourself?

Well the crafty so and so never said how much the parts are. I intend to price them myself later or try an online place. I’d have no problem doing it I’ll give it a look over once I get the shaft done and order the parts.

The ex missus had a bolt snap on her GSA, a couple of cable ties till I got the new nut and bolt then a few mins to fit.
I had my stand bend and twist out of shape. It cost me less than half of what you have been quoted to buy a secondhand stand and the bolts. It's easy to do. And the system to release the springs on mine made it even easier.

I have been on the lookout for a secondhand stand. But haven’t seen any as of yet. I do 90% of my own work. But have no lift or proper shelter to do the swingarm. That was the only reason I sent it out to someone else to do it.
