Right then - the blog as a font of wisodom has assisted in the purchase of an intercomm that i dont really want and cant really afford - gee thanks!

What I would next like to spend my bank managers money on is a new clutch.

£328 of his (the bank manager) money buys me a ceramic clutch, I do long distance on road, I go and play off road, I go away and play in dirt (not in any rediculously serious sense though) I need a new clutch and would like to know if anyone has fitted one and what they are like

Thanks in advance

H

The ceramic clutch only appears to be worthwhile in a case of extremely high temperatures, combined with high loading levels....such as 'serious' overlanding with perhaps frerquent low speeds and constant high load.

Beware - Lots of conterfeit ceramic clutches about.

Neil,

That’s the 2nd time I’ve heard you say that about “fake” ceramic clutches. What’s the story on them? About 4 years I bought a ceramic clutch of Ebay from a South African chap who was selling a load of them. Seemed like a nice bloke and got it for a bargain. Is the clutch fake? Who on earth makes fake clutches – they’re not really like Rolexes:) Are they just a lesser make of clutch? What will happen if\when I fit it?

Any more info would be great. Thanks:thumb

I know of 3 ceramic clutches that fell apart within a couple weeks. All bought off ebay.

That was maybe a year 18 months ago. Maybe they were seconds/rejects, that should have been destroyed :nenau

I Haven't heard of any recently, in fact i haven't heard of anyone fitting a ceramic for a while now, so hard to tell if the problem is still around.

If you do a search on Adventure Rider (or follow this: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250103&highlight=ceramic) you will find people with experience.

The other aspect of a CC is the posibility to clean it if contaminated.

I guess the bottom line to me is - if you are mainstream - go mainstream (read std). If you like to go where few others are, and the dealers and parts are scarce - well then you might consider the more exotic options:augie

Also look for Ricardo Kuhns thread on his Ceramic clutch drama.:eek:

He'll tell you what you should do with a ceramic clutch :D

Long story

I have had the dubious pleasure to read the story and to me the bottom line (to this topic at least) was that the CC he had problems with was indeed second hand and no proof of OEM was available...

Too much chance of it being stolen and ending up in Kenny's shed:eek
