Chain care and lubrication

When I used my DR-Z both on the trail and for commuting to work, I used to use two chains.
One was on the bike and the other was in the wash!
Alternatively, use the very best chain you can buy. After a trail ride, jet wash its full length to physically remove dirt and crap. Allow it to dry; then apply a health dose of decent chain lube.

Clean the chain of all crap,then fit a scotoiler,have one to two drips a minute set up and have a superbly oiled chain you wont have to adjust much and it wont like with chain lube pick up all the grit etc and make a grinding paste on the chain imho...........

I clean mine with paraffin, just brush it on.

I carry a little 56ml tin of Motorex 622 'enduro' lube.
It's small enough to fit in your pocket & it can be refilled.

A chain oiler , will keep the chain lubed better than spray.
You can buy cheap oilers , or expensive.
They all do the same job.

used this on my chains before with good results, doesn't pick up road shite as much as other sticky stuff:

Didn't realise that a single cylinder bike required a vacuum pick up pint? Let me know when you've balanced the carb.......
You could get rid of the air injection gubbins & possibly use the vacuum pick up on the top of the carb that would now be available?

I've got a scott oiler on my other bike, but I don't want to use one on my DRZ because it could get damaged or torn off when I am green laning.
I will have a look at the WURTH and MOTOREX products and pick one of them.

Loobman, just as messy as a scotoiler but a fraction of the cost. Use any oil you want in it too, thinner oil in winter, thicker in summer
