Too much salt and crap roads and the chain needs constant oiling. Years ago I fitted a Scottoiler which never worked great.
Does anyone still use them and which ones are best please

Best is a matter of opinion. However, a chain oiler will keep your chain cleaner than it would otherwise be and ensure that the links are lubricated externally (bearing in mind that most chains are now protected by sealed in internal lubricant).

I would not go for the most expensive. IMHO they do exactly the same job as cheaper variants. I used a Loobman on my Himalayan and it worked well. Other cheapish alternatives will no doubt be posted.

I have got the Scottoiler e-system v 3.1 and it works a treat. A lot less restrictive on how / where you place it due to being an electric pump rather than vacuum reliant.

I've been watching Youtube's on Loobman and well priced but I wonder how easy it is to over oil the chain. There is similar one on fleabay which mounts on the handlebars.

That looks a great bit of kit but at £300 it's a bit out of my price range.

Had a vacuum type Scottoiler for a couple of years. Utter shite and nothing but trouble. For the past few years I've used a Cobrra Nemo2 and it's been near perfect (the mount is a bit crap).

Vastly cheaper Chinese knock offs are supposedly just as good.

I used https://tutorochainoiler.com/ on my Tracer in 2015-17. No power or vacuum needed. Very simple design that works well. I went to the factory in Lydney as I lived in the same county. The Tracer was new in 2015 so the owner was keen to have a look at the bike and suggest fitting options.

The cheapo ones I've seen on EB are a copy of this then? At £25 it's maybe worth a punt at the copy but at under £100 the brand is quite attractive too. I like this as it mounts in a cleaner spot than the Loobman for getting crapped up.

Had one on my Triumph Sprint, used to top it up with gearbox oil every now and then. Was a vacuum system mounted under the pillion seat. Never needed a chain replacement in five years and it always looked in good order. Would I have bought one myself if the bike didn't come with it....not sure I'd have bothered. Was it a nice to have? yeah sure, it was nice to never have to clean and lube the chain myself.

I've been using one of these.
Top up with Gear oil, quarter turn on the top every 300 miles or so. Works well as long as you remember!!

That's the baby I've been watching. Copy of Cobrra Nemo2 as Cookie said

I use a Cobra copy, bought from Amazon. As previously said, 1/4 turn gives approx 3 minutes of oil flow. I just do it every time I fill up so every 250 miles or so. Have used Scott oil & gear oil and both work well.

Only issue I have had is somehow I lost the rubber seal from the cap which prevents a vacuum and it just empties the full reservoir on to the chain. Fitted a new seal and all good again.

Can I please ask where have you all got these mounted on your bikes

Cobbra manual £85.00 .Seem very simple .1/4 turn each day you ride?
I had a Cobbra Nemo fitted to my F900 XR and it seemed to work just fine (and a great way to use up any left over gear oil) but after a while I noticed that the applicator pipe was constantly moving away from the chain and sprocket even though I was readjusting it. On one run the chain almost seized and I had to pour oil on it manually. I removed it and have gone back to spray lube.

It's a good system poorly implemented as it needs a more robust oil applicator to ensure a consistent supply to the chain.

loads of videos on Youtube if you search your bike and the device you are interested in - fitting varies depending on if the oil feed is powered or uses gravity

Scottoiler and Tutoro have lots of help info on their own websites

I've already watched those lol, it's just there seems to be sooo many options.

can't you develop a spreadsheet and weigh up the variables? Things like supporting a UK business or importing something. Quality over Aliexpress against your level of tightness. One requiring you to do something over automated against your level of diligence. Does your bike actually have a chain, bearing in mind the name of this place?

GS850’s, 800,s, 750 and 310 don’t have a shaft. Sorry.
