I fitted these plugs about a month ago and after a fair bit of testing, I thought it was time to spread the word! - THESE PLUGS ARE THE BUSINESS!! - IMHO?
My '01 1150 single spark has never suffered from surging, but it did, at times, have a tendency to "pink" under heavy acceleration when using the original NGK's - and even worse using Bosch. The problem almost disappears with new plugs but eventually return as the miles passed.
I've never been a fan of the multi-electrode plugs, I think they shroud the spark too much and make the problems their meant to help even worse?. Because of this I decided to try a set of Champion RC9Y's as recommended by many, but when in Halfords I found Champion now had this range of EON plugs.
These plugs look quite normal but, in fact, one "size" ie the EON 2 in the case of the 1150gs, supercedes a huge range of plugs from fairly "hot" plugs to "cold" plugs and as you've to set the gap at 0.95mm if I remember correctly, you get a BIG FAT SPARK.
Champion claim they give better acceleration etc - well they would!!
Anyway, after fitting these I noticed a difference straight away - even from a cold start the engine runs sweeter and hard acceleration in low or high gears is vastly improved with absolutely no hesitation or hint of "pinking". You can almost "feel" the better burn in the cylinders!
If anybody is looking to try a different plug I would recommend these - in fact it would be interesting to get feed back from anybody who fits them, or has already fitted them, to see if their impressions are as positive as mine??
Must be worth ago? the Brisk plugs seem to get mixed reviews? so here's another option, I think they were about £19 for a pack of FOUR from Halfords.

Grizzly,

I had exactly the same experience as you with the Eons when I had them in my 1100...they also last two or three times longer than the standard plugs which off sets the higher price. :thumb

Straypuss,

The link you posted only takes you to the site where car applications can be checked, not the bikes. Do you know of another link?

Bob

you will need to cross reference your existing plug to the Eon range. There are 6 types covering apparently 85% of current applications. I have a catalogue at work but needless to say this is car biased. The 2 seems to cover the GSes as reported earlier. We just got a load in and I'm going to fit them to my bike this weekend. I currently run single electrode Denso plugs 'cos they were cheap and available from the car parts shop where I now work. :D

http://www.elcome.ltd.uk/eon/english/benefits.htm
click on the info button then the forwards button and lower numbers for cross refs

Which One ?

Which of the 6 eon choices is correct for a 1999 R1100GS. I have tried cross-referncing known plugs for the bike in the Champion EON info site and none appear. I believe that a RC9YC is a correct champion fitment but you cant cross-reference this against an EON fitment any one got the answer

Thanks

Bruce

Eon 2 Covers RC9YC

Hi Bruce,
If the RC9Y is recommended for the 1100 then EON 2 is the one -
like some of you' I tried to get model-specific recommendations for the EON range but they only seem to bother listing cars!. In the end I worked the system backwards! - ie what car is the RC9Y listed for - then look up that model of car in the EON catalogue and hey presto EON 2.
Straypuss would perhaps be the "guy in the trade" to give the
final confirmation of this??, but I've been running the EON 2's in my 1150 for 1000+ miles now and they still impress me.

I'm interested in a 4 pack for the 1200.

It's a Bosch YR 5LDE plug and try as I may I can't find the Champion eqivolent.

Does anyone know what Eon plugs fit?

SPARX

......& check out the application for a 96/97 R 80 GS Basic, please

Straypuss,

I'll have a pack of four for my twin spark Adventure please.

I'll PM you for an Address

Cheers

I'm going plug catalogue blind

OK Three hours plus research..went to the shop and got the catalogues...'05 champ and '03 Bosch + web/net thing

R80gs W7DC 0.7/.8mm gap M14x1.25mmx19mm L 20.8AF socket NGK BP6ES Champ RN9YC looks like an EON 2 is compatible but need to use smaller plug socket.

GS1100 FR6DDC 0.8gap M14x1.25x19 16AF NGK BKR6E twin electrodes Champ RC9YCC EON 2

GS1150 FR6KDE 0.6gap 14x1.25x19 16AF
E for Nickel Yttrium long life material twin electrodes K=19mm
I believe that the twin spark has a big and wee plug but cannot find a listing for it. No wee EONs..

R12GS YR5LDE 0.8gap M12x1.25x19 16af
E for Nickel Yttrium long life material
no cross ref found indeed not listed on Bosch or NGK sites yet as far as I can see.

AAArrgh.... OK if you want EON 2 to fit the 11+1150 let me know This is GSers only at trade + postage so no refunds

Check The Electrode Gap!!

One thing I noticed when I got my EON 2's was that the gap wasn't set as per instructions inside pack - it states gap should be 0.95 mm - this is a BIG gap and I think this is part of the reason they work so well, so it's worth checking and setting them properly to make sure you get full advantage of the BIG spark!!
Straypuss mentions some gap figures in amongst the info he's dug up, but these were the gaps for the old-type plugs - the EON 2's should be set at 0.95mm.
Looks like you've landed yourself with a job Straypuss?? - good price though - a real bargain.

My feedback unfortunately hasn't been fitted yet :-) , but I'd just like to say a very big thank you to straypuss for sorting the deal out. As soo as I have the time to fit them, I'll report back.

thanks

Rob

Now mine are fitted and used for a few days, I have not noticed the starting any better, and the abs still fails, that now could be the battery.
But went for a run up to Burnley today and the engine was as sweet as a nut, ran really well with hardly any back fires, not like when the Splitfire plugs were fitted.
140 miles return and not less than 70mph, some spots a little to quick ;) used £12 in petrol so an average of 46 to the gallon at a very quick rate of speed, I don’t think that’s bad at all.
:D

800 miles and still impressed
surging hardly noticeable
slightly crisper throttle
less popping from remus can
thanks
ps how long are they supposed to last?
