..... Secondhand BMW panniers and top box for a GSA 1150 ?

Slim or very slim ?

Not sure how much they are at BM for a new set .... dare not ask!

Other good options may have to be considered but not touratech.

Any thoughts plse ?

A can of worms!

I know everyone bangs on about Vern's and for good reason too, but I love the look of my old cajasahel's.

But I hate topboxes, the look them and the feel of them loaded on the bike. I'd rather use a rucksack or a cargo net if the boxes are off.

A tuff decision, look through the "show us your panniers" thead it may help you make up your mind.

I'd been dithering over whether to have a look for some second hand panniers and rails for my old 1150 gs, but I've been using a pair of throw overs...

...up until this weekend when the right hand pannier slipped and rubbed against the tyre, burning a hole and my waterproofs ( yes I know it was 900 degrees in the shade but this is England...) got caught in the rear wheel. I had no idea until I stopped for a break...

Now I'm going to have a look for a more robust solution. I had bmw hard panniers on my 1100S and they took a beating but were still working fine when I sold it at 57,000 miles.

The BMW System panniers and frames are frequently in the FS&W forum here.

Nowadays often about £150-200.

They did me and Lorraine just fine for the years that I had my GSs and even more so with the Global lids fitted.

There are usually System panniers (and the correct Topcase too) on eBay...

If you want metal panniers I'd look at Ard Cases (he's 'redcap' on here) :thumb2

Yeah wanted the metal ones.
Anyone know what BMW charge for box and panniers ?

£975 for the three inc locks. (Ally boxes)
But this was for a new 800gs I was tempted by last weekend.

metal ones on bmw over 500 quid and if I were you go on ebay :blast

You can still get new BMW metal panniers for the GSA 1150 from here.

However, you may have trouble finding the relevant racks. Over a period of several months I kept trawling the FS&W sections here and was fortunate to eventually got a full set of panniers, top box and racks.

As others have said, eBay may be the way to go or post here in the Wanted sections for the bits that are not immediately available new. There are plenty of options, it's just a case :augie of choosing what's best for you.

Hope this helps.

Try all the others and then sell them all to invest in Verns:blast

Had system panniers and they were ok, they did a job. Then had touratech on the 650 after a flirt with varios.

Now have verns and of all of them they are by far the best. Not the easiest to remove, but that's kind of what makes them the best (along with build quality, design and of course the fact that vern has fingered them to within an inch of their lives. You know they will take anything after that:D)
