RiDE Review

Fazer 1000 comes out top of the 1000+ bikes tested in this month's RiDE.

GSs didn't feature at all - shame!

Bike mag tests are usually viewed in isolation and use stats such as speed, weight etc to reach a conclusion.

After a 3 days testing a GS I jumped back on my VFR8 and hated the bloody thing, thats after 8 years of VFR ownership !

Take a look at the exodus to the GS from sportsbikes / tourers.

Somethings arn't tangible and thats how I would best describe the GS - it just feels right and ticks all the boxes of my biking requirements - I even think it looks nice! (I was dropped at birth)

Two spills (during attempted theft) and no repair bill - bonus!

The main point to remember is to buy what you like not what other people like, even if its a C90.

(er yes I owned a C90 once and even crashed it into a fruit market stall in front of 2 coppers - it was a diesel spill - honest)

fazer thou

hi ta much markie and robeeky for the info on fazer thou.i will be using it all year round, commute and blasts of fun.it will cost me 1200 bangers to change, the dealer is selling his fazers at 6999otr,bit steep i ithink.stiil contemplating it as insurance is costing over a grand as i dont have a garage, but yamaha insc said if its in cover ie a shed then its 398bangers fully comp, and i have a shed.im intending on keeping the bike at least 3yrs so the fazer will have to do everthing.cheer again.

zanshen.

6999 way way too high, even doing a part ex.....again, pm me and im happy to pass on the dealer i bought from who will defo come in lower even after your part ex......if you check the mcn press im seeing uk bikes regularly under 6k otr....

i will warn you in advance they take a little time to get used to the power on tap and riding in the rain has to be done with tenderness!! if the gs represents the wanna be world traveller, then the fazer is the everyday blue collar grafter....

Good to see you haven't lost the ability to talk total crap Robee:D

5800 quid seems good for your old GS. Cooper Reading said my W reg 2000 GS with 42000 miles was worth 3000 quid px !!

Go for it.

bob.

you are the biggest dildo this site has ever seen. its impossible to take anyone like you seriously.

also, read the ''ride'' article in smiths today...surprised you're not blowing holes in their review spurting forth more spurious numbers from your own sassy mag collection.

lights, camera, action......cue bob......

robeekay67 & madmacs --- good to see you two back, its been a bit tedious of late.

:D  :D

Hey Robee,

At least you are giving your insults in public now instead of sending them via private messages or hiding behind an alias. :D
But I'll hold back on the facts as I know it will upset and confuse your solitary brain cell. Don't want you having a relapse now.

:)

And welcome back Madmacs, what drivel are you going to thrill us with this time?

I first stumbled across this site about 2 years ago. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to discover more about this site and the members who are the GSer Club. We have some wonderful innovators such as Migsel and Vern, Rob Farmer doing his light kits and other bits and pieces, some official and independent dealers popping in and giving good advice. We also have a wealth of advice from the members, not just on the oilheads, but the airheads and F650's too. Then there is all the information and advice on accessories, modifications. GPS, clothing and anything else motorcycle related. All in all, a wonderful place to visit and post messages, ask for help with problems and also for light relief.

And then we have Robeekay67.

What has been his contribution to the GS club? A collection of moaning, whinging, bitching posts, and successfully insulting a wide range of members whose only mistake was to engage him in a debate in response to his whining.

He first posted to complain about the 36K service on his GS. Unfortunately, comprehension of his complaints was difficult as Robee seems to lack the basics in writing English, such as spelling and constructing sentences properly. If anyone replied in the negative to his drivel, he appeared to take it personally and would get on his high horse.

He then expanded and started to make spurious claims about servicing costs. His most oft cried claim was "Jap bikes are half the price to service than BMWs". When members debunked this claim by having the audacity to produce hard facts, and challenged our boy blunder to back up his claims, he spat his dummy out and started to get nasty, going as far as sending abusive private messages to members who had just challenged his grasp of the facts.

I won't say too much about the 1910 engine and how he thought he should only be paying 1910 servicing costs on keeping it going. I think the majority of the members got the message about his mentality after those comments.

And I won't mention how he managed to get in an argument whilst trying to sell his GS on here, when someone asked him for an accurate assessment of its condition in an attempt to avoid a 200 mile round trip if the bike was not in great condition.

Anyone reading Robees' posts would think that the GS he owned was a pile of crap. Yet he kept it long enough to rack up over 40000 miles. Now, who in their right mind would keep a bike for that long if it was that bad????

He's now racked up 3500 miles on his Fazer. Yet he keeps coming back here to post more of his trite garbage. Imagine if his Fazer was his latest girlfriend/boyfriend and the GS was his ex. The new model would be wondering what was going on with Robee spending all his time talking about the ex, and no doubt getting rather pissed off with the situation! Most people would have moved on a long time ago!! But not dear Robee. He just can't let go.

If the GS was that bad an experience, exorcise the ghosts and move on Robee. You don't want to become a bitter and twisted old tosspot as you keep on regurgitating the past. Oh, too late!

Bob

PS Is the 67 in your name your IQ by any chance?

cant help coming back knowing every time i write something im going to hook a tuna called bob......ah well happy days.

as for what 67 stands for, bob should ask his wife harhar

one thing bob is right about, there are a lot of friendly, useful knowledgeable good guys on here-and bob isnt one of them.

Methinks you are the one being caught on the hook Robee. Time after time after time.

Thanks for playing.

Bob

fazer thou

cheers for the info on the fazer rob.im contemplating it.cheer 2 ya all.

nobbly bits

robbeek - i would wager the 12", bob wound't be extravagent about anything. i'm just not sure if he's a cheap one you see in the back of the sunday papers, or one of those fancy ones with a bit to go up your keeky-hole too. suits him, sir.

best watch out tho - bob is becoming so obsessed with you he might turn up on your doorstep one evening looking for a bit of latex enhanced battery action.

markie - your comments re fazer sum up the views of all right minded people who have had barrels of cheap fun out of these bikes.

You can always rely on the cretinous merchant banker from Glasgow to add his own worthless contribution.

Watch out Robee, judging from his intimate knowledge of all things kinky, he might be planning on paying you a visit very soon. It sure looks like he has designs on you.

Bob
