Changed auxiliary socket connection (and Autocom)

If I remember correctly, the power connection to the auxiliary socket on my first 12GS was the permanent, soldered type. Just been out to fit the autocom to my new 12GS to find there is now a block connector. Is my memory playing tricks on me or have they changed it on newer models? But more to the point… any suggestions of how to wire in the Autocom now it’s changed? Can you get plug in adaptors to make the job neat and easy? I had intended to wire it straight to the battery but just read in the Autocom manual that this would be a bad move.

Mines a soldered block connector, or at least it was until corrosion took its toll. Hopefully it is getting fixed under warranty in 2 days time during a service, along with the autocom wiring being permanently soldered in. In typical fashion it failed on me whilst touring and needed a roadside repair with a chocolate block and tape to keep my power socket running for my plug-in autocom.

I'd repair it myself but:

a) Why should I, its BMW's poor design that caused it to fail, plus I would have to buy the parts (if available).
b) It could be a 'can of worms' as the copper loom wiring is also corroded and may need replacing. I doubt solder will take to the wire no matter how much flux is used as it has gone black.
