changed battery, now misfiring and backfiring

After changing the battery on my gs 1150 adventure, I now have misfiring and backfire on tickover and lumpy at low speed. Any ideas anyone? I am at work with it and hoping I will get home.

Check the seating of the cables into the throttle bodies - you'll have disturbed them when you lifted the tank. Common problem - everyone does it once (or reads about it on here first ). I read about it and still forgot to check the first time I took the tank off

did you move the tank to get at the battery?

If so check the throttle link - left side when sitting on the bike - there is a picture somewhere but cannot find it. Black cabled ending in round knurled knob - sits in it's own little holder.

It should be seated correctly in the holder - removing/lifting the tank sometimes results in it sitting incorrectly.

gonna see if I can get a piccy.

No, both sides potentially, although I find it's usually the right hand side that gets unseated.

Thanks Guys, I had checked the seating of the cables, but have just checked again and the right hand cable was jammed under tank, hopefully problem now sorted, will find out on way home.

still misfiring and seems to be running on one cylinder, cables are seated correctly, any ideas? someone suggested there is a way of re-setting the fuel system.

Are both of your injector plugs seated correctly, had one not fully "home"

looks like the left coil cap is corroded so think this might be the problem, where is best place to get new?

Have a look at the ads up at the top of the page - either James Sherlock or Motorworks will supply by post in a day or so.

Change the coil over to the other side to see if the problem moves sides.

Or pull off the bottom plug caps (assuming its a twin spark). If it can't start then the problem is in the coil cap.
