I am trying to change the sounds of my start up of AOL , Windows i have XP etc.
Now it seems that if its a sound without a video clip i can do it no problem but if i use a wonderful sound i have got of an old Norton but offcoarse the video clip is with it (it was taken by my digital) it wont load up into the sounds?
Is that because it has a clip with it or can i somehow get round it or seperate the two.

cheers

you could record the sound from the video with windows sound recorder. save as a .WAV file & use that.

....or it could be it's just broken. it is a norton :D

Cookie i am a bit of a dumbo on the P.c but i am learning but could you describe how to do the above procedure i have xp

Thanks mate:homer

You'll need a Video editing programme like Adobe Premiere, Import the video clip into the timeline, this will split the conformed audio into the first audio channel, then export the audio and save it as a .wav file, job done.

Now this may be a stereo track or a mono, if its a mono then import it into an Audio editor like Cool Edit Pro and copy the one channel to the other and "Voila" you have a stereo audio file.

start>all progs>accessories>entertainment>sound recorder

play your norton file on media player & record with sound recorder. save sound recorder file & use that for your sound file.

not actually done it, but i think it will work :)

Been fiddling around with this for ages.

Yes it works but the playback quality is crap . Its no where near the original video clip sound.
Even adjusting quality on the recorder to max and CD quality its crap. It may be my P.C but if thats the best it does its terrible.

Been trying to use a good throaty single cylinder sound to swop for their really taccy 'welcome' and 'you have e-mail' etc.

Back to the drawing board
