Somewhere out there.
2001 1150 with abs.
I am thinking of changing the brake lines whilst the bike is off the road.
I can clearly see where the lines connect to and from the abs unit and reckon I can get to them without taking the tank off?
From those who have done this before, is it possible to change the lines without removing the tank or is this a prerequisite to bleed the abs unit?

Wouldn't mind if the tank wasn't so full of fuel and I had somewhere to put it!
Cheers.
Jiff.

You should drain the tank and bleed from the ABS unit as well as from the calipers. I did the brake line replacement on my 2000 GS a few months ago and got some apparently 13+ year-old coffee-colored brake fluid from the ABS unit. Replacement or repair of the ABS unit is expensive.

+1

The tank will need to come off. The whole job should only take a couple of hours Mac assuming your brake lines are all matching. I also fitted mine a couple of months back. But then the bike was nicked 2 days later :-/
