Folkstone

Hi cooke,

Still fairly new to Mapsource, I thought I would have a go. I can only type in 4 letters in the name field couldn't find anything for Channel Tunnel, so I tried Folkstone and sure enough it came up.
Managed to find it under Ashford as well.

Isn't that simply Ashford railway station? It's certainly not the Channel Tunnel terminal.

What happens if you specify a route from Dover to Cocquelles? Does it list the tunnel in the route?

That's the problem with GPSs, they seem to take the commonsense aspect away from riding. Simply travel in an eastward direction down the M25 passing Ashford. The entrance to the Channel Tunnel is extremely well signposted and arrives after a few miles.:kissy2

the tunnel uk terminal is on the mapping, i found it manually, but i can't make it find it in the Find feature. not tried Nearest yet.

using CN 08 btw.

cracked it.

you have to type in "Folkestone/Channel Tunnel (R)" if you want to find the uk end.

Ah, you see the joy of the GPS is that after a lot nadgering about it will tell you that it is the M20, not the M25 that passes Ashford and goes to the Tunnel. If you stay on the M25 you end up where you start, wherever that is :D

Mind you, the road signs would point that out too, i managed for years with nothing but roadsigns and reading the maps on service stations shelves.

I do find the logoic that Garmin have employed frustrating, most searches fail to find what I am looking for; then, when found by a more onerous method, the exact road names I have typed will appear on the maps....:blast

There must be some king of logic there, just not as we know it.

Count yourself lucky you're just looking for the tunnel, and not your own arse with both hands. :blast

Of course M20 and not M25. How could I have made such a slip especially as I live close to the former? Doh!:blast
