Fill up at Ashford as every fucker will be queueing at the French end - :thumb

There's a Tesco not far from the Channel Tunnel entrance - I've used the HI Express on the same road. Accessible from J12 of the M20 (i.e. the one after 11a for the tunnel coming from London direction). Simple job of going down the A20 for a mile to get back onto the tunnel entry road just before the ticket booths.

Even if not using the hotel I pop over there to fill up with fuel and get some nosh to eat on the train. This means you haven't been ripped off in the Eurotunnel shop and are ready to ride for a couple of hours the other side without the need for a stop.

+ 1

Petrol down by us is hovering around €1.50/litre and I recently paid €1.63 in central southern France so as said brim it up in England!!

thanks again to all.

especially Wessie thanks for the detail....

Itds the first time posted thread and nice to see such a response in very short time...

There is a tesco at junction 10 on the m20 at Ashford thats were i fill up

I know this is an old thread but I did a quick search on French fuel prices and couldn't see anything particularly recent on the subject...

For those visiting France, the following French Government website is useful for checking current fuel prices (I believe filling stations are obliged to provide a fortnightly return on the price per litre they are charging for road fuels).

http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr

It's useful if you're trying to work out a budget for a trip, or; to have in mind the "usual" range of prices to be expected, or even; to take a view on whether it's worth filling up prior to boarding your cross-Channel ferry or train.

Currently, unleaded 95RON (SP95) in France appears to be roughly equivalent to UK prices. Diesel (Gazole) is somewhat cheaper than in the UK.

It should go without comment that supermarket filling stations tend to be cheapest and Autoroute services the most expensive... both France & UK!

The French have started using E10 95 Sans Plumb
This is an eco fuel which has a 10% ethanol additive and is not recommended for engines/bikes older than 2k3 personally I use 98 RON if I cannot find 95 RON fuel in France.

The AA doa monthly fuel price report:-

Normally Europe prices are similar, the Exchange rate is the biggest influence, when we were getting E1.25 to the pound we are doing well, at E1.10 not so great.

Generally France and Germany are similar, Switzerland and Austria cheaper and Italy a bit more - the differences are not enough to worry about for Holiday purposes IMO

I'd be careful 'filling' a bike up and then going on the Eurotunnel train...... I'm sure there is a story about this in here somewhere.
It involves a fuel leak from a brimmed bike's overflow.....and the carriage fire supression system being activated, foam everywhere! :blast
I can't remember who's story it was though? ;)

Yep :thumb2

One of the guys from here filled up just before he boarded the tunnel. Whilst moving along through the tunnel he noticed his fuel tank breather was dripping fuel. Matey boy decided to undo the fuel cap to release the 'pressure' in the tank.... this resulted in fuel being blown out of the filler cap :D

This in turn set off the alarms on the train, quickly followed by the foam fire suppressor system.... not a problem for Tosser clad in his bike gear, but chappie next to him in his best suit was not impressed :D:D

All I'll say on the subject is don't expect the usual friendly wave as you leave the train :augie:augie:augie. :D: :D
