Charging my unit

Judging by this and all your other posts in this section, I've concluded that you, your device and / or your PC are not well suited to each other.

Make sure you are using the correct usb supplied cable and the correct usb voltage plug ( see manual) . If not it will not charge.

Page 12 of owners manual says:

Power Cables

Your device can be powered various ways.

• Vehicle power cable
• USB cable
• AC adapter (optional accessory)

Charging the Device

You can charge the battery in the device using any of these methods.

• Connect the device to the vehicle power cable when it is in the automotive mount.
• Connect the device to a computer using the included USB cable.
• Connect the device to an optional power adapter accessory, such as a wall power adapter

It must be me, I'm used to my 2610 I've got two units I used them for years, I've never had any trouble with them, got the latest maps on, I'm thinking I might go back to them,
I think I might sell it to fund for Montana as I do a lot of trail riding

One tip if you are selling something.

Don't, as one bod did, spend several weeks describing something as a load of old crap, waste of money, not fit for purpose junk.... And then be surprised when other bods remember his less than effusive praise for the item when it appears in UKGSer's FSW section.

From what I now know....USB outlets on a PC charge at varying rates, depending on whether they're USB 1, 2, or 3.
USB 1 and 2 typically supply at 500mA, USB supplies at up to 900mA.
The dedicated Garmin ( or similar) charger with USB outlet will charge at up to 1500mA - hence much quicker !
Having a similar experience with a NAV 5 I did some research, and ended up buying a proprietary adapter plug to convert my charging cable from micro back up to mini size, so that I could use my old Zumo Garmin dedicated charger.
Hey presto - it works. Full charge in a few hours, just as you'd expect.

Lower charging current will be less stress on battery. Just leave it longer on the charger. If it's switched on there might be no net charge.
