Cheap touring luggage advice

Someone answered for me! I might or might not be taking a pillion for some of the trip, depends how I feel and depends if they get the ropes untied. I'm looking for cheap because I'm wanting to spend some of the money I have travelling or else the whole point of buying this bike was lost. I have seen Varios going on ebay for around £300 new. Looking to spend a bit less, around £200 - £250 or will just resort to soft luggage, save some cash, save some weight and laugh at the bloated GSA riding next to me which looks like my sensible GS has crashed into Halfords.

i didnt crash in to halfords, i went all the way through......

I've found the Bags Connection stuff very good - bought the cargo bag and tent bag (which clips on to the aforementioned cargo bag) when i had my zx10r and it was excellent for a two week trip around France. The advantage of the pocketed design comes down to easy access to different areas - no problems with security. Throwing on the rain cover and a cargo net made it look a little less accessible. Doesn't sit quite so neatly on the back of the GS because of the rack, but no biggie.

I want to take my GS travelling but it came with no luggage capacity, actually that's a lie, it had the option for a pair of Vario panniers but the guy I bought it from wanted £500 for them and they were battered so I politely declined except without the polite.
I'm leaning towards getting a set of Varios for her because they don't need a scafold frame bolted to my rear end and also are cheaper and just plain easier. I also though about throwover soft luggage but am worried about security when you stop anywhere, I doubt that bags would dissuade anyone from helping themselves to my stuff. I've seen varios on ebay going secondhand for more than dealers want for them which is pretty sad so can anyone offer suggestions of what to try?

I have a pair in storage that have seen minimal use. I might be prepared to sell them on.

Make me a reasonable offer.

Plus I'm in London, so it might be pretty easy for you ....

Sounds good. Are we talking about Varios here? It depends what you're looking for, tough to make an offer without seeing them. Want to meet up or something? My number is, 07858 098489 if you want to give me a bell
