I bought a silencer with removable baffle to go with the cheapo y-piece.

If I fitted both to the adventure, the only thing supporting the full system would be the mounts at the barrel end. This is not right surely?

There is no mount on the silencer itself, yes it is a bit lighter than the original and if it was fitted with the cat then it would probably be okay as that has a couple of bolts to help support it.

I'd be worried about fitting the full system though, am I right to be?

Doesn't sound right?
If there's no bracket or holes on the silencer, then you need a collar that slides over silencer and then a bolt goes through to the footrest hanger...............like on my Sebring.

Although I know nothing about Y Pieces............shouldn't that have a mounting point as well???

Remus Genesis

It also has a mount that attaches to the footrest bracket. Sounds like yours is missing a clamp if there's no holes for a bracket. Sorry no pictures here, but similar idea to the original end can. I'd almost say don't ride it without some sort of attachement near the foot rest otherwise it must damage the y-piece / cat.

If I'd known about you a couple of hundred hours earlier I'd have seen you first Paragon, oh well, something will turn out right for me one day.

Mine looks like this.

Yep. Certainly looks a bit short on mounting points compared to the Remus/Sebring etc.

It may lead to increased vibration at the can mounting, and a possibility of fracturing the footrest hanger bracket.

But then, I could be talkin' bollox. :D

What make of y-piece is it out of interest, or who supplied it?

Mk3 Escort?
Nope.

I'm taking the thing back to the chap for a refund tomorrow. He reckons he has 5 - 10 a week going out without problems. If that is the case then someone else on here must have been as daft as me.

No Bonus points if you can identify the car from the bonnet:)

Early (80s) Volkswagen - possibly a golf / jetta / passat ?

Reason I think its one of them is because the aeriel is on the wrong side - a prob with early VWs (kept losing the aeriel on branches etc on Irish back roads :D )

Do tell !!!
