Maybe I am not looking in the right place but I cant seem to find a thread that looks at this GPS unit and gives advice on how it fits into the BMW cradle and if its a good replacement to the NAV 6.
Anyone point me in the right direction?
Thinking of getting one to replace my Nav6

It all depends upon what you don't like about the Nav 6. The Chigee device would give you screen mirroring to run the nav apps directly to the device screen from the phone (CarPlay or Android Auto). AIO - 5 comes in a couple of variants for BMW, the 'Lite' and 'Play' The light has F&R cameras and is hard wired, it requires an extra module to use the control wheel, that works exactly as the NAV 6 does. It's also got blind spot detection through the rear camera. and will display all the vehicle data through the LIN-BUS (as nav 6 does). The Play version fits into the existing Nav prep mount and gives wheel control, but has no cameras, nor BSD.

In my opinion you'd be better waiting for the AIO-6 (Due in June) with a bigger screen, and is removable with the correct mounts, fits into the existing nav prep. Cameras can be added if needed and the unit remains removable. Wheel control is native, without the extra module. This comes in 2 variants: Max (No SIM card) and LTE (SIM card) that gives some extra connectivity if you feel you need it, with tracking.

Here's a link if it helps.

Its good and integrates perfectly with the bike through the nav bracket and works with the wheel, plug and play, all I would say is how is your eyesight Grant, as a reading glasses wearer if I put my shades on to ride the fonts are on the small side, definitely much worse than my Zumo XT which is great but obviously lacking the same features. No shades on absolutely fine, with shades, not so fine.

I would also hang fire for the bigger screen, I think they are on pre order.

Grant, buy yourself a new AIO-6 version instead of AIO-5 (the number represents diagonal screen size in inches) for the ageing eyes.
The AIO-5 is available to buy now, where AIO-6 you probably be waiting for it to be delivered by mid July now.

I love my AIO-5 that I’ve purchased last May.

Thanks. With the bigger screen does it block out parts of the TFT?
Thats what I read about the Capuride.
Not sure how big the Nav 6 is as I haven’t measured it but for me it works fine with my eyesight

No, It doesn't look like it will. There have been a few reviews on u tube. Think the Carpuride is 7 inch.

There is a video on the YT by one of the inmates from here. I think this might be it.

It’ll be 👌🏻 for Grant! Do it!

Well after a bit of research i have caught up a bit....

Looks like the Chigee AIO-6 is the one to go for BUT I do have some questions
1. Can I use the device as a Navigation device - i.e. can I upload GPX files to it or routes from MRA?
2. The AIO 6 4G is about to be launched but not sure really what the big deal is with the 4G option.

If 1. works then i am tempted to go for the AIO6 BUT I need the device primarily as a navigation device.

It mirrors your phone - it is not a standalone Sat Nav

So the SatNav is on your phone and navigates using a different App such as Scenic, Calimoto,

Yes you can, but It will only mirror your phone in Apple CarPlay / Android Auto Mode, like it would in your car on the screen of your infotainment system. It isn’t a GPS device in its own right like TomTom or Garmin XT/XT2 for example. It does rely on your phone to be connected (wirelessly) to it.

I personally haven’t looked into 4G device. I believe that the unit does become a tracking device for you bike. I might be wrong.

Some would say what is the point in having one of these units then?
Well unlike Garmin, you have a choice of mapping software to use that you like and prefer. Such as MRA. Kurviger, Scenic, Calimoto, Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze and probably more.
You also get your music apps on the screen of the device if that’s your thing whilst riding.
There is also a phone and messaging options displayed in same way as they would appear on your phone.
Yes it does only mirror your phone and some would argue with a remarks, such as “what is wrong with keeping a phone clamped to the handlebars of your bike if it does essentially do same thing?” Yes that correct, but I sooner have a £400 CHIGEE on the bike and my £1200 phone firmly in the pocket of my jacket. Not least should the worst happen, it won’t be 30m down the road in a ditch whilst I am broken to bits laying in a ditch on the other side of the road…

I use the AIO - 5 at present. I just choose the nav app that I want to use from either the device or directly from the phone, more often than not it's MRA. The LTE 4G option is a tracking device, in a similar way to what Monimoto is, the subscription cost is free for the first 6 months, after that it's similar to Monimoto. The difference in cost between the MAX and LTE is less than a Monimoto. I've ordered the LTE then I'll just move the Monimoto to another bike.

I wonder if GHIGEE LTE would be recognised by insurance company as a legitimate tracking device? Especially seeing as AIO-6 is now featuring a quick release. In other words, you on a trip in euro land, you parked up your bike next to the hotel and it get kicked whilst you are having hot dreams and said CHIGEE is sat on the desk of your hotel room.

I looked into the Chigee AIO-6 too.

I currently own a Nav6 and decided there are some additional features, but I know I wont use them.

I use my Garmin for navigation and following routes I've created, I can listen to music through it too.
Sometimes I use the Garmin simply as a huge speedo while commuting.... that's all I need.

IF I didn't already have a Nav6, and I was in the market for a GPS then its a no brainer, id get the Chigee.

Yeah, there's always something like that. I'd probably leave it locked into the nav mount. At least with the LTE and cameras, I'd probably still be able to see who knicked it, from my phone. I'm sure it uploads video to a server as part of the subscription, (i'd need to confirm this is right).

The server bit isn't right, it just does real time video stream as far as I can see. Think I was hoping I bit.

So in a nutshell you pay quite a bit for the Chigee which has a lot of features on it but it’s not a stand-alone Navigation device like a Garmin is or a Nav5/6.
It basically mirrors your phone so you have to buy the MRA navigation App from MRA and put that on your phone. Then you stuff your phone in your pocket and the Chigee is a mirror of your phone…
All very complex. Would be ideal if the Chigee was also a real time navigation unit and not just and expensive mirror of the phone.
My guess is you don’t upload any routes directly to the chigee and it cannot therefore act even as a basic navigator.
Sorry but then I am a bit lost and I’ll stick with my Nav6

Maybe wait and see what will eventually become a stand alone navigation unit to replace Garmin

Anyone good to read and learn so thanks for the advice

I doubt they will ever be a stand alone nav unit. That would mean the have to develop software and pay a license for the mapping.

Their value is in being able to display Android Auto or car play.
I think the average bikers usage just a fraction of the abilities they are sold on.
Who wants music/video/weather/messaging services. Not me, but if you like those features, fill yer boots.

I use it with Kurviger on the phone via AA and that's about it.
I don't want the phone on a mount or in my pocket. Mine has a power feed from the bike in the tank-bag.
For me, its value is in the bigger display - old eyes.

As you say though, as a stand-alone device its pretty pants for a motorcycle.
Mine is the 702 Pro. Cant speak for the functions of the BMW version.
