Chigee AIO6 falling out of cradle

I have BMW OEM Sat Nav locking cradle on my bike.



I recently had an instance where the Chigee fell out of the locked cradle when I hit a particularly large pothole. Quite remarkably, I caught it as it bounced off the tank so damage minimal.

Has this happened to anyone else?

My mate has a Carpuride 702BS and comparing the indents on the Carpuride where it secures into the cradle it looks better designed with 'sharper' edges to the indents than on the Chigee.

When you slide the locking bar across can you see any red showing in the small gap at the top of the device ? If so it might not be engaging properly. Mines not a chigee but a connected ride nav and it used to show a smidge of red at the top when locking it in, never dropped out though, but it did cross my mind of the thing bouncing down the road.
After a few tests i find when engaging the slide bar if i firmly snap it across (not too hard though) it fully engages and the red warning goes away i.e its fully engaged.
Worth a look to see if its an issue on your device.

Have not had that experience at all, nor I see any movement with it on the base.

Maybe a little piece of tape can make things a little tighter for your?

Otherwise, reach out to chigee, maybe they can replace the base if it is worn or defective.

I was adjusting the cradle for my Carpuride 702BS Pro to fit in better, it was slightly to the right and full lock bars hit it.

I stupidly put the unit on the tank as i did and it fell off.
i went to grab it and invertedly batted it, bouncing down the steps and down the flagged area about 30 feet away

my heart sank, it now has a slight scratch on a corner it but still works fine... crikey what an idiot!
honestly thought it would be knackered though.... tough shite this Chinese stuff

I have reached out to Chigee but at the moment the reaction I am getting is 'we've not heard of that before'. It could be a one-off, but I do not feel happy using it for as long as I can force it out of the cradle.

It should be able to hold in the cradle with the normal jolts your gonna get on a bike, if not then something is wrong.
I'd do some basic checks on the cradle and unit to identify the problem..... ie

- the pins at the top are spring loaded, are they moving freely. Check if any red showing, because if it is they aren't located correctly. If red is showing i'd try just either the firm close of the slider bar while pushing the top of the unit back to see if they locate.
- check the two pins at the top and make sure they are'nt rounded off as it needs a clean sharp edge to secure the unit.
- check the two recievers on the unit where the pins locate and make sure they look deep enough and also arent rounded.

Lastly, If all that looks good the only other thing to cause it would be if the unit is very very slightly too small which means the pins dont go deep enough...... measure your mates with an accurate measure and compare.
