Hi. I'm asking this question for a friend.

Ive searched posts but it doesn't seem to have been discussed.

Hes just got a new R1300GS and fitted a Chiggee 6, when starting up, all is fine and he selects Nav rather than TFT.

It all seems to work fine for about three or four minutes then switches off.

Any ideas please.

thanks

Alistair

I would suggest as it’s not a Garmin product the TFT simply does not recognise it. As far as I am aware all the type of devices are meant to use CarPlay as their prime mode. The only associated control is the wonder wheel. Try looking at UTube vts fot the Chigee the answers will be there for sure

Brilliant thank you very much for replying and advice, cheers Ali

I had a Chigee 5, BMW connected ride and then Carpuride 7 inch on the R1300 GSA, all with no problems. Sounds like a loose connection to me either from the Chigee to the mount or the wiring of the mount. Or the Chigee is no good - Could try power it off the bike through the USBC port and see if it switches off after 4 mins still

Has he done an update on the Chigee? I appreciate its probably a new unit but you never know how long it's been in storage.

This. Also, clean the pins on the back of the chigee and the sat nav mount.

I have the Chigee 6 on my GS - the only issue I had was on the initial charge up and it also needed a software update - I struggled with both requirements to do that in the house.
So I put mine on the bike and went for a long enough ride to charge it, then updated still on the bike - beyond that it's worked perfectly and is fully integrated with the wheel.
Hope that helps.

I had the same issue all sorted when I did the latest update ! after initial install it updated and ghad the problem then next am initiated another update and all good.

Presuming the bike has the new electronic release Nav cradle. If so, Chigee and Carpuride etc all had issues initially.

Chigee fixed it in the recent software release:

v1.6.6 2025-10-21
Added
• Added support for BMW’s new electronic keyless cradle protocol.

You can power off the bike with a USB cable, but it has to be a USB-A to USB-C cable. It will not work with a cable that is USB-C on both ends. It also has to go in the correct USB-C port on the device.

Yes, you need a memory card inserted to do the software update. Many people miss this step if they’re not using the cameras as they assume it’s not needed.

Im still trying to work out how to turn the speed overlay off when using on the new bmw keyless mount and wonder wheel .
The chigee instructions dont quite match what gets displayed on the screen as it refers to BMW connection will keep trying the various options .
