Got a spam email yesterday adressed fully to me, at the company 'A' who I do some contract work for. The email was from a Chinese Battery manufacturer.

30 minutes later I get a spam email adressed fully to me, at the company 'B' who I do some contract work for! And from the same Chinese Battery manufacturer.

This morning I got a LinkedIn invitation to "connect" with Zing Fun who is the Sales manager for that Chinese Battery Manufacturer!

Feck - I reckon the barstewards have gotten access to my home computer contacts list, with not a murmur of objection from my firewall or AV software.

Wiki-leaks again, anyone?

I had a simillar thing although I opened some dodgy email! If you have a hotmail email address you will need to change your password and it will stop it. I had some company that managed to copy my email addresses and spam them globally!

This might not be unconnected with your slow running computer problem.

but, officer, I've run Webroot Spysweeper every week, and Webroot Firewall is always on . . . .

though I shalln't rule out the association I'll follow the "leaky driver" approach for now for the slow running computer . . .

Cheers,

Neil.

Can you make a bootable disk with webroot? If you can, I'd suggest doing that, booting the machine with the webroot boot disk and scanning everything, just to get confirmation nothing naughty lurks within.
