Sorry guys another chip query. 1150GSA 2004

I have a Remus Y piece and Remus can with the removeable baffle and just hoped there was a few of you guys out there that have already fitted the BB power chip, can you give it the thumbs up ,wots all your thoughts on this chip.

Is it easy fitted,

Does it increase the torque lower down the rev range,

Does it smooth out the power delivery

And i take it the rev limiter is altered for higher RPM

Does it take away that surging that the Y piece gives.

Cheers in advance Steve

Ps I got a new set of BMW engine bars for sale

just taken off my new ADV just done 50 miles £200

Don't know about the chip (but listening fore answer's 'cos I'm interested too ;)) but you get surging with yours????

I've got a twin spark adv with same set up and mine doesn't surge.....power delivery seems pretty smooth as well....but better with the baffle out (and a much more mellow sound.....definately better and less intrusive )

Fanum i must try that with the baffle out h,mmm i thought it was loud enough with it in to be honest but will take it otut in morning for listen.

I don't know about the 1150 but my S/H 1100 came complete with Remus 'race' can and a BB chip.

It pulls cleanly from tickover to the (updated) rev limiter at 8300 rpm giving an indicated 130-odd mph - I've only tried it once as the thought of those great lumps of pistons moving at that pace is a bit worrying! Torque just seems never ending - but they all do that don't they?

The chip replacement requires the motronic brain box to be opened, the original chip removed and replaced - without bending the pins - if you've ever changed a computer CMOS chip it's the same deal.

There are 8 'programs' for different combinations of can, cams, compression and fuel quality, selected with a naff looking jumper in the fuse box - where the code plug would normally reside.

I'm thinking of trying the stock exhaust and chip just to see how much of a performance loss there is - just coz I can.

Average fuel consumption is 50-55mpg.

Hope this helps

Mark

Go for it......but watch out....I nearly ran into the back of queues several times in the first day or two 'cos there doesn't seem to be any engine braking once the bung's out........it's very odd !!!

:D

BB power chip

Come on fellas there must be someone who can tell me more about these chips.

Cheers Steve

Yes: just take your time; getting the Motronic apart can be awkward I found if you break the seal in one corner and wedge it with an allen key or similar it helps - otherwise it just seals itself again. Be VERY careful you align the pins correctly.
Does it increase the torque lower down the rev range,
Jury's out: it definitely smoothes it out a bit and eliminated a slight flat spot around 4,500 rpm
Does it smooth out the power delivery
See above: Yes I think you probably gain a little top end pull at the expense of a slight drop in low down torque
And i take it the rev limiter is altered for higher RPM
Yes up to 8,100 rpm I believe - I used to hit the rev limiter occasionaly not any more
Does it take away that surging that the Y piece gives
Never had any so can't answer.

Also gives a bit of piece of mind regarding lean\hot running - this is the main reason I got mine.
I'm running a 2002 1150 GS with y-piece and Remus Revolution without the baffle.
Hope this helps
