OKay, just did 72K service on a 98 1100GS and changed the gearbox oil
Came out chocolate brown, it was nice amber GL5 70/95 12K miles ago.
Plug had fine metal paste attached, no big bits.
Final drive oil was clear and amber done at same time with same oil.
Due extensive research I'm pretty sure it's either totally fine and they all do that, ,or it's totally ****ed and I'm buggered if I turn another mile!
Okay, no 'symptoms' of dying gearbox, such as jumping out of gear (or vary rarely), not changing, so what I'd expect for the usual german tractor gearbox charm.
Is it a rebuild or should I drive 1500 miles to Turkey in a month in confidence
