my choke operates normally until i try and turn it off it takes alot of force from the b position to off, i don,t want to force it and break it, can it be sorted, also can you just change the rubbers on heated grips

1. You'll probably want to change your cold start cable as it's likely frayed. Don't worry, it's only a fast idle, so you're not doing the engine any harm. Replace all the cables whilst you're about it - guide here

2. Yes you can - guide here

When this happened to me it was because the little spring-loaded detent ball bearing had rusted and become closer to square than round. I used increasing force to turn it off until a new fast-idle lever was the only fix (which is a pain in the arse if you have heated grips 'cos the heated grip wiring goes through the part of the fast-idle lever assembly that slips over the handlebar.

The lever assembly does come apart - maybe if you catch it early you can rescue it with some light grease and maybe a new ball?

Surprised some pedantic twat hasn't pointed out yet that it's not a choke.:blast:blast

I'm going to be a pedantic twat and point out that both me and Mike O referred to it as fast idle. We just didn't make a big deal about it. Hoped to quietly educate without embarrassing the OP. But all our efforts are to naught, 'cos somebody had to come along and bang on a big bass drum.

to all pedantics, i wont be offended as it clearly states on page 14 of the riders manual, item 1 choke lever, also on page71 it states choke and how to operate it,:augie

We're not pedantics, we're pedants. Ow, tongue so far in cheek I've bitten it...
