They're obviously trying to sell you a TomTom Rider, aren't they?
My 2p worth: Their point about accuracy is largely a red herring. All automotive GPSs have some sort of "snap to road" feature, as far as I know, so it doesn't really matter if your position is only accurate to a few metres. WAAS is largely irrelevant for automotive applications, because (a) it uses a GPS channel that could be better used getting a normal signal and (b) you don't need the accuracy anyway.
Their point about the Star 3 chipset is far more important - from what I've heard receivers with this chipset perform incredibly well in areas where an older unit (like my Garmin 2610) would struggle to get a signal.
They also keep saying "GPS systems" ... what does the S in GPS stand for?
They say: It is worth knowing there are some recent hand held units that can offer built in radios that will not only allow you to communicate with other members of your group, but will also display everyone's location on your screen.
I've heard this before but never found a device that can do it. Anybody knows?
The Rino 520 seems to be limited to 3 km. Not enough for MC. Also - I can't find it for sale in Europe? Maybe its frequences are not approved in Europe?
Maybe me must wait until they have something based upon GPRS or similar?
So the question remains - is GlobalPositioningSystems.co.uk just writing nonsense or is there already something on the market?
