Christmas get together only — Wednesday December 18 - Town of Ramsgate, 62 Wapping High St, London, E1W 2PN

Picking this one up again, I think the idea of food and getting something booked up is going to be a challenge. What about leaving the food open for each person to decide themselves but then a evening with beers.

If this is agreeable then I am in favour of the ToR. Why? They have some nice beers, its normally pretty OK to get a seat (if we let them know before hand), and its a nice atmosphere.

Based on this so far we seem to have quite a small group.

If we get final numbers by say 1st November, this should give us som time to at least let the TR know in advance.Richard,i ts your local anc you kn ow the owners what do you think?

As for food, I will probably drop by the Fried and Grilled on my way down.... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Life changes.

Count me in for the 18th, please.

Apropo nothing, the closest curry house to Wapping Towers has just reopened, having closed during Covid.

It’s in Wapping Lane, opposite the post office, if that means anything. I haven’t been there yet, but Mike (the barman in the ToR) tells me it’s OK, for somewhere finding its feet.

Given the area’s ethnic makeup, I’m surprised it’s our only one.

PS The Wednesday will lead me in nicely to my departure the next day for the barren north and the Yorkshire get-together. I’ve gone onto Amazon for a whippet, flat cap, ferret and a tightly sealed wallet.

Thanks Richard, what about making that the venue for our dinner then a beer at the ToR after or for those that only want to meet for beers.
Could make it an early one say 1800 sharp and then on to the ToR?
Happy to give it a try say next week Wednesday (6th) to see if the fare and price is OK?

I’m happy enough to just go to the ToR, not least as I can go to the curry house any old time. There again, I go to the ToR pretty much every other day, too.

ToR It is then 1800 for a few beers. Richard could you ask them nicely as a regular if we could get a table for 6?

After paying £60 last week for pasta and tiramisu, this seems like a giveaway at KÖD Soho .. IMG_2553.jpeg

If that could be increased to 7, I would like to join you all on the 18th at the ToR :)

I’ll drop by the pub and extend the booking to eight, if I can. If not, seven. That’ll have to be it.

The pub does get very busy (in a tidal way) most evenings, Christmas is no exception. There were no spare tables for at least two hours last night, with two office gatherings and eight blokes who have a reoccurring weekly booking, after playing 5-aside football at the sports centre.

Thanks Richard, Agreed. we should cap it at 7 or 8 and if there are extras then they'll have to seat themselves. Only fair to the ToR team. Might well drop by for a curry at your suggested place next Wednesday and then a couple of shandies after at the ToR. Fancy an autumn curry and beer.....
If anyone wants to join me drop me a quick PM
