First post apart from saying Hi. Having just got my lovely 1150GS , she who must be obeyed and the munchkins want to buy me a bike related Christmas present . So in a range og £0-£20 , £20-£50 and £50 plus what you think is the most practical/useful or fun accessory for our steeds.
Cheers . Frontbrake

Hi Frontbrake.

Cheapest most practical must have thing is side stand extension plate from Touratech so you can park it on the rough stuff.

After that you will need panniers, crash bars, hid lights, top box, muffs (for winter) Airhawk seat cover...... the list is never ending !!

Petrol - practically impossible to move the bike without it! And if you've just got the bike, go ride it and then determine what you want to buy for it.

The HID light upgrade I got from zerocool on this board was the best thing I have ever got for the GS. £100 for dip and main beam, I think it was £60 for dip only.

Pressies

Welcome to the site a prop stand plate ids a good idea these things are so easy to fall over in even firm dirt a break screen, indicators etc good investment. possibly cheaper than petrol!!.
Dave ( I hate christ mas ) GS roll on 2010

I like fog or driving lights on the bike ; depending on quality ~50 GBP. Better to be seen (I believe the triangle theory, the cage drivers don't see single headlights). Alternatively a new seat or Ohlin shocks, but that's big bucks.

Cylinder Head Protectors - if not already fitted. The bike WILL be dropped at some point. Lost mine at a set of traffic lights - foot slipped on some oil and once bike passed it's centre of gravity it was a losing battle to keep it upright so tried to gently lay it down. Result = a couple of scratches on the protectors - did their job.

Not done the head-light upgrade yet but that's on the 'wish-list'

A Stubby exhaust looks cool , saves weight :bounce1, sounds great :augie :guitarist and enables a full size pannier - problem is they are now as rare as hen's teeth...

Ask her to buy you a GS1200.Then she knows you wont be going too far from home:augie:D

+1 for a tank of petrol just ride it then you'll know imo

+ another one for the tank of fuel.
but,
this is more important;
the "flight clearance" from SWMBO to go forth and empty the tank.
there is no way to measure the financial value of just going off and riding yer Bike.
it's priceless!!!

especially over the xmas period
- at some point you will need / want that time to yourself. ;)

~~
or is it just me.... :D
