Hey you can't own a location man!!
Anyone know if you can remove the blue and heat marks from the headers...dont know if its possible, nearly bought some chrome wheel cleaner yesterday but thought it best to ask incase I did my usual bull in a china shop!

Cheers

Dont get me wrong I like the blue, I just want to get an even blue, since I bought the bike the exhaust has finger prints and marks all over due to it's service and work...

I use 1200 grit wet and dry, with water, then Autosol.

I think he has the optional chromed pipes though, rather than the stainless steel. Probably wouldn't react too well to the wet and dry treatment!

I'd 2nd that, and don't use wonder wheels either

Autosol on it's own would probably work, never bothered on mine, meant that the bike look like it had been used, and not stored in the garage for 11 months of the year.

Yes Autosol would probably be ok, bearing in mind that any metal cleaner has probably either abrasive and/or corrosive properties to get the job done. Belgom, who are well known I think for their 'Alu' polish also do a chrome polish. I have some and it's more of a liquid than a paste so is probably a little less abrasive and worked well on my Triumph Rocket.

Indeed "Blu Away" & similar products contain abrasives more aggressive than normal chrome polish. As previously said, it will come back & will require further applications by the purist. "Continual" use WILL thin the chrome....

I use Blue Job which works well on the blue but not so well on the yellow/orange. Usually can find it at Harley dealers.

I wasted my money on BlueStuff. The blueing comes back real quick and is a waste of time. If you want to remove fingerprints, just SolVol the pipes and be done with it.

I have enough BlueStuff left to do one more clean and that'll be when I go to sell the bike.

Nik, my son and I are coming over your way 18th - 26th July, Davy. You can inspect Nik's pipes then......:augie

Can I just confirm something - whats the score with the chrome pipes - I got them on my new beastie cos I kind of had no choice - I presumed they were just stainless with some extra polishing. I take it they aren't chromed mild steel ...

On 2004 & 2005 chrome pipes was an option, not sure about the other years....:nenau

If they're "blue" it's chrome, if they are a golden to brown colour they are stainless. Check with a magnet if unsure....Very sticky it's chromed steel.

No, they're chromed and come as part of the 'Premium package' along with heated grips, on board computer, ESA etc. I wasn't fussed about the chrome, but wanted ESA and they came as a pack. £828.... Whether they are chromed stainless or chromed mild I don't know. I would hope and expect stainless
