Does anyone have recommendations of places to get chrome plating of motorcycle parts done?
I've been searching online, and everytime I read an excellent review somewhere, I then end up seeing the "don't touch them" alternative view!
Parts are footrests, kickstart, gear lever etc. from a Norton Commando.

With Chromers, the busiest one are the best , if thats not too quizzical. The other thing is preparation, some chromers will prep but others don’t . So ignore reviews where they say surface wasnt smooth after chroming ect. So surface prep from you is critical , if current chrome is pitted , sketchy, then get the work on a wire wheel to get everything smooth.

I used RS electroplating near Manchester , but this was 12/14 years ago. Have a quick look on some classic bike and classic car forums for recommendations.

My bits took about three weeks turnaround, I did all the prep myself and was happy with the result.

I note you have some big lumps there, eg kickstart, gear lever etc. why not send one item to your selected plater and see how it comes back before committing the lot. Chroming is fairly artisan , items are grouped up eg nuts and fasteners, but things like kickstarts bars etc go through on their own. I recon RS waited for a batch of bits before doing mine.

you're in for a shock on prices , if you haven't done any recently.
Thanks for the suggestions. A couple of them I hadn't seen.
Yes, aware of the prices, and it will come down to economics.
I could replace all of the parts with new, from Andover Norton, for around £680.
Prices I've had back for chroming so far range from £160 to £320.
Better secondhand parts, which will come with their own blemishes, could costupwards of £200, so my preference is currently to get the original parts rechromed. Just a matter of choosing someone. and all are suggesting a turnround time of 4 - 6 weeks.

dynasurf cheshire very good firm used them to rechrome my stachions very good quality work even send a courier to pick up your items

I've used Sean at Agbrigg Chrome Platers at Leeds for a good few years on my restoration projects, motorcyclists themselves and understand what is required, always top quality work and competetively priced.

I got estimates from a few companies, and I ended up going with Vernon Moss Electroplating, in Brighouse.
Good quality, reasonable prices, and about a three week turnround.

Used these guys quite a few times several years back, always happy with the results. Family run business on a small trading estate. I recently discovered that the guy I used to deal with passed on during the Covid epidemic and his son now runs the business. And there's another quality business a few doors down, NRP Exhausts
