Anyone have a chrome polish other than the usual crap they sell in Halfords? I have been trying to do a bit of research into these products and see what the general concensus of opinion seems to be:confused:
I came across a product online called "Blue - Job" american don't you know! Claimes to clean of almost eveything known to man including the Blue heat change colour that occurs in stainless steel from time to time.
Be nice to read peoples views on this:rob

cheers for now djack

Brasso wadding works well on chrome.

It's not the cheapest but it's probably the best. :thumb2

BELGOM ALU POLISH AND PROTECT

Belgom Alu is a very fine metal polish for Aluminium Alloys, Copper, Chrome, Brass and steel. Belgom Alu differs from other metal polish as it contains a special wax additive that seals and protects the polished metal for several weeks.

Most retailers charge around £8.00 for a 250 ml bottle but you if you go to any autojumbles a 500 ml bottle can usually bought for £10.00

Wot he said, the wax bit is also correct, good for ally wire spoked wheels as you only have to do them once a Belgom Alu moon thankfully. How I hate broken nails.

Brasso, autosolve, and all the other paste products has abrashive particles in them ,in general the 'grittier' the feel of the paste between your fingers the less effort is required to clean .
But will not leave the surface as shiney as the less abrashive products such as Finesse it from 3M which you can polish fine marks out of your screen/ clocks/paintwork

I tried a lazy alternative on my wheels, Turtle Wax Extreme Nano-Tech Formula Wheel Cleaner (well with so much effort having gone into the branding it would have been rude to leave it on the shelf). Spray on and rinse off. Left the wheels in a dreadful-looking mess.

Take a look on here for cleaning/polishing concoctions. If I remember correctly, non other than our very own Tarka uses the alloy and stainless polish, and what he doesn't know about cleaning ain't worth knowing! :thumb

Wilkos metal polish (the stuff with the wadding) for tar spots, general dirt and stainless and chrome.

Solvo is abrasive so I only use it ally and stainless. Heine Gerike seems to be the cheapest place for it.

Newspaper works really well on dry chrome.
