As per the title; City Nav Europe 2013.40 has arrived. Head over to your myGarmin account and download.

If you don't already have a lifetime update, and think now is the time, don't buy one from Garmin as they're £25 (1/3) cheaper from Handtec.

And they now only seem to offer it via Garmin Express which appears to only update GPS units and not PC maps :nenau.
Oh well p'raps I shouldnt complain too loudly at least it seems to have seamless updated my Zumo660

You would not have one without the other. PC and Garmin need to be using the same version map

I see to be one of those who find Garmin Express up to the high standard of Garmin software  So clever it knows how much space is available that's free on the 660, but can't realise that I want to "update" the maps, not just install ones that'll fit the free space left after the last update :blast

Now downloading the update using mapupdater :)

Not sure what you mean John. On mine, using Garmin Express - with a card removed - it prompted me to input a card with more than 3Gb capacity or select a smaller number of map tiles.
Card back in, selected load to card and it crunched away.

Didn't give me the option to overwrite the old maps as it would only allow small regions. I've only got Western Europe, plus some other bits on the GPS, but it won't let me choose Western Europe again, like mapupdater does.

What satnav do you have please?

Hehe... Indeed. Double jeopardy John.

I always found the Gramin updater flaky on a Mac. Since Garmin Express though, it's been plug n' play on the Zumo, Nuvi and Montana.

Anyone know how you get the mapping on an SD card with the 550?

Install to comuter only and then use Garmin Mapinstall. You can select from a dropdown on the first page to install to the SD card in your Zumo 550. I'm just doing it now.

If Garmin Express is working for you it asks where you'd like to put the update.

Due to the well documented issues with card reading in the 660 (hopefully cured now) I've never looked to see if Map Updater does, though I suspect it will in the "options" screen.
