I'm coming to Germany this Spring (from the US). I'm bringing my Quest (US version with not a lot of memory) should I get Europe City Select or City Navigator? Does it make any difference? I'm more interested in "town to town navigation". I am not looking for points of interest in the cities. (Maybe the BMW motorcycle dealership in Frankfurt but nothing else in particular.)

I would check which product the Quest normally ships with, and choose that. Because presumably it will be the most suitable.

Have to confess I don't know the difference between CS and CN. I think it's just that different models of GPS unit are more suited to certain mapping data.

CS will be fine. There's not much difference, but the CS upgrade is cheaper ($50 v $75).

By the way, how much are Quests retailing for in the US?

Cheaper to buy City Select Auto Kit for IQue 3600a

I have been investigating getting another set of Euro City Select for my GPS. What I have found is that the cheapest way to get this is by buying an Automotive Kit Europe for the IQue 3600a (Aviation version). This is only $219 US direct from Garmin.

Auto Kit Euro

You may even get a few bucks back by selling the leftovers

Street price is about $360 for the Quest and $560 for the Quest II

I don't know your reasons for doing that but just to be on the safe side - You do know that you are entitled to use the maps on two different units that you own and that there is an upgrade that is substancially cheaper than buying the software again?

In case you want it anyway I would suggest that you first check the price on a GPS 18 ;)

Have a look at PanEuropeans post in THIS THREAD :thumb

Good tip on the GPS 18

That is a great tip. I was originally looking at the full price package at $330 USD.
