Are free upgrades for these available, or does one have to pay ?

I have a Quest bought mid Dec 04 ....
MapSource you can, and should, upgrade for free. Download it from www.garmin.com.

The firmware to the Quest you can, and should, upgrade for free. Download it from www.garmin.com.

Regarding the map CitySelect the answer depends on two things -
- what is your current map version?
- when did you register your Quest & the map?

The top two I know,

It's the City Select stuff I don't ... how do you find out more ... phone Garmin?

It would have been registered around December 04 ....

If there was a later version of the City Select available than the one that came with your Garmin GPS when you bought it new, then you are entitled to a free upgrade. If it came with the latest software included then you don't get a free upgrade.

Alternative ways to find out the version of City Select are:

1. Login at www.garmin.com as a returning customer using your Registration Code (also known as the Customer Code). You will need this code to upgrade anyway. Here you can find both the exact registration date and the map version.

2. Read what is written on your City Select CD.

3. Start MapSource on you computer and read what is written in the small window in the upper left corner.
