I understand that when people spend a lot of money on a motorcycle, they
are prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt, but if I had these issues with my bike, I would give BMW a time scale to fix the problem, and if its not fixed, the bike would be rejected. People are too afraid to put their foot down, for some strange reason.:nenau I'm not a director of BMW, but if you're not happy with it, and the problem is so bad, then return it to BMW as its obviously not fit for purpose.

If I purchase a bike, and its not up to scratch, have no doubt, I WILL reject it. I have no loyalty to BMW, and if I buy a BMW, and it's shite, you will know about it.:rob I would have absolutely no problem taking a bike back to a dealer, and throwing the keys at them, and demanding a refund or replacement if the bike was as bad as is being reported.:rob

There are obviously some bikes with issues, but I just don't understand why people that have shelled out £15k on a bike will sit around waiting for BMW to make the next move.:nenau

there's a world of difference between "i've actually done this" and "i would do this" :augie

For me having various issues and i genuine do was all about how they were handled at first not good than it all came good but i has to make a stink and than i was given a like for like bike while they had mine and a promise everything will be sorted and for me that's fine I can except that its the parts supply thats Holding things up now. But because i can't take there bike abroad I've had to collect mine for a week away its fully useable even with its faults and on my return it will be given back for the like for like until its sorted and tbh its not what you would expect but its got warranty they plan to sort it and if by doing so they make it even better that a big plus, what more can you ask for.

I'm just grateful my dealer is one of the good guys who goes the extra mile to help and sort the issues out.

Fixed it for you.

For me that's fine, I can accept that it is a parts supply problem which is holding things up now.

Its fully useable even with its faults, and on my return I will be given back for the like for like until my motorcyle is sorted.
To be honest, it's not what you would expect, but at least it is all covered by the warranty.

What more can you ask for?

My punctuation may not be perfect, but maybe others can understand your missive now that I have translated it into English.

One thing that this problem does highlight is the poor build and component quality checking. For so many bikes not to have an issue should suggest that the revised component is unnecessary. If it was a component issue shouldn't it affect all bikes? If not, are the tolerances that large during build that it can necessitate multiple sized components as we are now led to believe will be the solution?

this kind of quality control would not be tolerated in BMWs car divison:rob

so why the fuck are they allowing it in the motorcycle division :confused::confused:

They source all components outside so where they are coming who knows ! China

I think in time with wear all the early bikes will see the same problems, its not if, its when

Having stripped my own bike down, tbh I think its actually very good in build, and surely its expected the 1st gen to have some teething issues.

.... because you are dealing with a different customer type in Motorrad division.

I remember when the FD issue became big on here with the 1200. Your comment above was voiced at the time and there was one response that I won't forget ......

"Stop fucking worrying about it! If it breaks just take it back and warranty will cover it!"

I think a similar attitude is starting to prevail here and with that sort of attitude there's only one winner ....... BMW.

This is the point I was making yesterday.:rob:thumb People with issues need to report EVERY SINGLE ISSUE to their dealer. If these issues are fixed, then great, but if not, that is the time to get BMW HQ involved. Keep a record of the dates of the issues, when they were reported to your dealer, and mileage on the bike at each issue, and keep reporting back to BMW if the bike is not fixed to your satisfaction. You will be assigned a contact at BMW who will work on your case. If these issues aren't fixed after a certain amount of visits back to the dealer, with the right records and documentation, that is the point that BMW will offer to replace or refund.

I have no doubt that several owners have gearbox issues, and yes, this is a very expensive bike, so we need to vote with our feet. If you have a new GS with these issues, you need to get much tougher on BMW.:rob

i agree . as for the warranty attitude that only works for those who can afford a new bike every three years:blast

ive only ever owned one brand new bike a KTM990 that had its own niggles:blast i cant say i would bother again(unless money wasnt much of an issue that is):D:D

whilst we thought Europe was catching up it still seems the japs have the upper hand when it comes to presenting a properly FINISHED bike to their buying public.

last week i had a good look around the Cross tourer and the Superten and the WC , the fit and finish on each bike was superb :thumb2

but the sad fact is it seems under the skin the japs are still better :blast

I understood what DD was saying, are you a school teacher?

No he's a cnunt the worlds full of em, but if it makes him feel superior than he's welcome to fill his boots.

No, I'm not a teacher of any sort, (electrical engineer) but when someone posts something unreadable, I feel the need to elucidate those who are also reading the posts as to what he probably meant.

No, I'm not a cnunt, A cnunt (as you call it) is a useful thing, and I do not - in all probability, fill that position.

But, try reading the original - it is unintelligible as posted.

Its like being on a s1000rr but not as quick, pin the throttle dab the gear lever, it sounds awesome as it pops thro the gears and the echo from the akro.

If one thing BMW have upped there game with the canbus system its even more sophisticated than the TC bike and it took some working out.
