Pull the barrels and vapour blast is the best option but you could be opening up a can of worms.

I use the large scotchbright pads that come in either green red or grey depending on coarseness . Use them first with screwdriver type thing but made of stiff plastic or wood so it doesn't scratch. Then your old favourite autosol with as mentioned and polish with cloth.
Well that's what I do there's proberbly a better way but it's cheap and looks ok. Don't use a drill with the spinning metal brush on the end it will score the alloy, I know this
If you clean them too much ie soda blast then the rest of the bike will look tat.
