OK it's another one of these.

No prize, as usual, just that warm glow in your loins that comes from the knowledge that you're a motorcycling legend, holding the virtual crown until the next quiz. And who knows when that might be?

Bits-of-bikes pics coming up - tell us what you think they are. Answers later on, this afternoon/evening.

Who will be top dog???

It's the wheel we're interested in, not the bike behind.

:D Well that's the best attempt so far!

Anoraks are available in Sunset Taupe, or Dazzling Fuchsia, let me know which you prefer. (y)

Oh, and yes it's Blackbushe airport, just west of Camberley on the A30. On part of the site, some old boys spend their days restoring the likes of these.

Team UKGSer has pretty much got there as a combined effort.

If we're ever invited to University Challenge (or is that, Universally Challenged?), you lot are our A team. (y)

Here we go -

I think it was only the 250 that had the unusual 23" wheel??

WR650

1790785527769.jpg

That colour....

1790785565752.jpg

Beezer Thunderbolt. Was more than a little belligerent when the owner tried to depart...

1790785586289.jpg

Norton something.

Can't remember the year... Yamaha created 'US Custom' versions of a few of its bikes including the XS250, XS750, XS1100.

XS650 in the pic, but you knew that.

'twas the 400. Fatter exhausts than the 250, maybe?? Remember they also did an automatic version of this.

1790785710156.jpg

I wonder how many of the 1100cc versions of this survived? At one time it seemed like the go-to motor for dragsters.

1790785737857.jpg

Disappointingly, this modern Dax didn't have the knurled wheels that allow the handlebars to be folded... that was the identifying detail I was hoping to capture.

TDM - looking at its stance, did this define the adventure-tourer class, before the adventure-tourer class even became a thing?

1790785935106.jpg

Tiger Cub. Walking that fine line between patina, and knackered

What a thing of beauty. It purred like a big cat, too.

That's all, folks.

I enjoyed that Paul, thanks mate. I take it that you didn’t have a lot on at work!

I had half a handle on half of them, but was really unable to pin exact models down.

Thanks again.

Cheers TopG; i should have known that Gt750 with the amount of times i hung around with guys with them; i was deliberating between 250 & 400 for the Honda for some reason i thought the 400 had twin discs; and again a few mates had 250s from k4 to G5s; cheers for the effort putting it together. That 650 kawasaki with the frenched in back wheel looks bloody different.
