Maybe not so much a technical question but here goes..... My Nice new GSA is now nice and dirty...I was wondering what the score was with using a jet wash? Not all over but in the lower half maybe? Maybe not at all? Good 'ol Bucket n' Sponge would probably be the best...

What do you do? What is safe to get wet etc... Dumb question? Maybe?

Avoid bearings, pivots, electrics and decals.......squirting it up the air intake isn't generally a good idea either.....otherwise, go for it :)

Hi Macca!

You can have my old tooth brush, if you want. Or you can nick your friends tooth brush.
It's perfect for details and spokes! :thumb

Jet washers are fine as long as you're sensisble about what setting you use on the nozzle, don't have it on it's most powerfull jet either at all or when near sensitive areas.

I`d advise against using petrol station Jet Washes and those dedicated ones in France.

The pressure will do all kinds of long term damage....from blasting what little factory applied grease was on pivots,to entering electrical components.

The wax additive will dull down all the blackwork on your bike....and be a bastard to polish off afterwards.

You also run the risk of blasting off any non lacquered decals you may have.

Instead,I`d suggest popping into one of the Poundstretcher type shops and getting a variety of dish and bottle cleaning brushes...use them with the likes of AutoGlym Moto Clean or Muc Off for winter road filth, then a wax free car shampoo hosed off with a garden hose.
Then, when dry, good old Mr Sheen Original or Aldi Beeswax polish applied with one of the 'Magic Dusters'.
Any bare alloy will come up great with Autosol (the original and best).
Silicone spray will get the black plastics better than new. :thumb

If you didn`t already know about my bike cleaning obsession, you soon will :D

As per Tarka's advice... can't beat Autoglyms bike cleaner... Plus..I discovered Crystal Glo Polish about 6 years ago... wouldn't use anything else now.
I've tried it all - best you can get.

Also... if your para about jet washes... try a hand pump hozelock garden weed spayer, sounds rubbish - but you'd be amazed once you've brushed on a bit of Autoglym. :thumb

Meguiars; the best!

And that is because there is no need for it to dry a little before you wipe it off, and that is why it is so easy to use.

My best cleaningtips is to polish the bike; then the dirt gets off easily!

By That Reckoning I Think I will Stay Away From The Jetwash Idea Then.

Thanks For The Advice, Tarka I Started To See Myself In The Garage From Dusk till Dawn Reading Your Post :D Off To Aldi For Me Then Buy A Load Of Kit.

However the weather in this place at the moment is doin' me 'ead in......Think it is the same in UK...When will it end AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHH.

Want to clean the bike and ride so it stays clean for at least a little while. Thx
