Long nosed pliers on the 'bumps', squeeze and they pop open. They can be re used. Nail pulling pliers also work well. I ground the tips of needle nosed pliers for a better grip.
What helped for me with my poor old eyes was getting a Magnifying glass to have a good look how they lock together. Once you see exactly what you're doing its quite easy.
Maybe its time for plus 1.5 glasses and a better torch but have now come right
this morning took some and ground flat hooks on tips its a good feeling when they pop off like how much easier could it get.
butterfly is caked in greasy grime lucky im not looking for to much performace out of my bike but I think lesson learnt {clean filter or it will get sucked in by this monster of ours}

One mistake I made now was to wash Air box with high pressure hose
Water dissapeared when I checked where to I realised there is a pipe into sump at the bottom drained clear water from sump and oil came after.
You learn new things every day.
Just need to take this slow and I should be allright.
