Just washed my 1150 and when I started it I noticed the clock had reset itself. I didn,t use a powerwasher just a hose and sponge and there didn't seem like any low battery problems. Any ideas?
Happened to me twice, but I didn't even wash my bike. Hasen't happened again so I filed it in the Xfiles of GS ownership.

After fitting HID lights my clock resets itself everytime I turn the ignition??

Usually this is the sign of a dying battery or of poor battry connections, make sure the terminals are greased and tightened properly. The starter takes all the battery can take leaving nothing for everything else the only visable symptom is a zeroed clock. Having just fitted extra lights it may have been just enough to finish the battery or whilst you were trying them the battery has been run down leaving just enough to start the bike with the same zeroed clock.

I've put the Optimate on it so see if this helps.
Mines an 03 with 10,000 miles and I currently do about 100 miles a day 6 days a week. The optimate is on it at least once a week so I hope it ain't the battery... at least its still under warranty

Aparrently, these are susceptable ( did I spell that right? ) to water ingress.
my bikes one was damaged so I took it apart to see, you know, as boys do. And sure enough it was water stained on the pcb.
Confirmed by a guy at BMW.
Id suggest a bit of waterproofing to safeguard from this.
Athough, the lack of battery power thing could be true too, especially if the system is having a massive load applied suddenly.
Id go with the water thing though as they seem prone...
