was in Kearys today getting the lastest of the BMW recalls done (fuel tank bolts this time, ABS pipes last week)

when in pops a lad on a new Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 to get his 600 mile service done, so snapped off a few pics... not a bad looking bike in the flesh, very chunky like the GSA

stuff

yeah he said the panniers were pure shite, and would prefer to get metal ones..

and a LOT of bling on it.

but it made a very very nice sound I have to say.

My thoughts too Big D :toungincheek

Bike looks well though .. pity they havnt any demo bikes as I wouldnt mind trying one
:aidan

I was in germany at the weekend and there was one outside of the local dealers, so had a sit on it, i was suprised at how small it felt, I think it has the potential to be a really nice bike just not at the price.

TBM did a review of ot this month in the mag, they are not huge bmw fans but they said it is not as good as bmw, it needs be lighter and more powerful to be able to compete

oh that guy wasn't from the garage doing the service outside..

the guy who owned the Super Tenere wasn't from the area, so the BMW gave him all the tools he needed and he was doing the service himself in front of the workshop.

I have to say Kearys are great for helping out bikers passing through its not the first time I have seen them doing that AND doing it all for free....
:clap

i will be hinest i am not sure if like, it, looks great from some angles and others looks like a toy,

but still good see yam are getting back in to the trail bike market after the 660

What's with all the oil? I could understand with a BMW boxer, but on the Tenere??

Yam

I spoke to the owner outside of Kearys, he loved the Yam, stating that it was a great bike to drive, had said that he previously owned many GSs, he was mumbling about the amount of stuff he had to remove to change the oil (by the look of it he put on most of it himself). He only had it one week and was doing it's first oil change.
