Just noticed when riding the bike at low speeds that when I pull the clutch in then release it that it seems to be cluncky, sounds like the cltch but might be the box.
Is this normal?? didnt seem to do it when it was cold or is my 'this thing is going to break and be really expensive (diff,ews,FPC...) paranoia getting the better of me??

My 58 GSA does the same, so I've just started holding a higher gear instead of block shifting through the box.:rob

first BMW boxer?

HI solidstate

Yes, mainly had Jap fours (still have two kwaks hence ZRex;?) so Bmws and twins are new to me, well apart from my old 250 suzuki...

I guess it goes with the territory, clunky and unreliable (EWS,FD,FPC etc) what have I bought

Still enjoying it so far.....got further than my blackbird before giving trouble!

Hey there TeZREX

All these failures and weird noises and oodles of play are normal and its called "character" around there parts :D

you'll soon be in luv with it :thumb2

Hmm

I spoke too soon, looks like the gearbox oil seal has gone now f**K its only done bloody 13000miles...whats going on with zee germans:rolleyes:. did they employ all the old british leyland workers or what :rolleyes:

I have two kawasakis and the only oil leak I suffered was on my Zx7r gear linkage took half an hour to sort. This looks like a few weekends....:eek

Not a great first impression, got rid of my Blackbird due to electrical issues only to get a bmw that has other issues as well...

I suppose if I wanted something to leave alone and be able to use I should have stayed:green gri

BMW gear boxes are made by Massy Ferguson same as they fit in their tractors!. Do not ride without ear plugs. it will frighten you to death!!
