Hi all, was just working on the xc and noticed that the clutch cable had come out of its clip to the frame, this allowed it to rest against the exhaust resulting in a completely melted outer, i thought the clutch was behaving funny and now i know why, have put a cable tie round a replacement cable in addition to the clip to stop this happening again.:rob

My clip had come off of the down tube on my X country, but there is wire guide that stops it from touching the exhaust. Maybe yours is not routed correctly or this guide is missing ? I cable tied it back inplace just to be on the safe side.

Cheers,

Yup the wire guide is there at the lower part of the cable, it was the clip at the downtube that had come free and it was touching the exhaust at the connection to the cylinder. As to the correct route ????
