An old much discussed topic. Being a fair weather fellah I have just fired up the Xcountry and put 6m tax on her and have the famous clutch judder(its a 2007 bike) - almost feels like a 'bounce' as the clutch doesn't engage smoothly as its eased out, seems to be on/off/on/off in quick succession etc until the lever is fully released. So I am guessing its wear in the clutch housing and I either need a 2009 version or to replace the 'sleeve' and bearings in the existing.
Does anyone know if the 2009 cover is available (I have sent a request to Motorworks) or someone who can re-engineer my existing cover?

Yes, the later clutch cover is available from BMW dealerships. I've just done this, after getting a complete list of parts from John Nicholson on here.

CLUTCH HOUSING COVER 11 14 7 700 331
GASKET 11 14 7 700 194
NEEDLE SLEEVE BEARING 21 21 7 701 501
NEEDLE SLEEVE BEARING 21 21 7 700 120
SHAFT SEAL 21 21 7 700 173

He added, "If you want to 100% sort it I normally change the shaft as well :"

OPERATING SHAFT 21 21 7 700 306
CIRCLIP 21 21 2 343 258

So I did. I think it was £240 for all the parts.

Thanks Schtum. Motorworks just gave me price £134 for the cover and I've just asked them to price all the other parts. Best do the 100% sort it as I don't want to go back into it all again........hopefully straightforward enough for the inept home mechanic to tackle. Bit too far to take it from London to John Nicholson so may have to give it a go myself.

£255.35 inc P&P for the lot (7 parts). Hopefully a job only needed once!

Well worth doing, the XCountry I have now has had this done, and it's miles better than the others I had before.
