Clutch lever fouled in handgard look!!!!!

Out with another gs12 that oinked of freshly fried clutch . looking about the bike we saw that the left handguard had slipped causing the clutch lever to not return. We found that no amount of tightening would prevent this (indeed my bikes guards would slid down without much effort).

Check yours now.!

Has this happened to anyone else and can it be cured?

Only just about everyone mate It will only happen once, as now you will check it almost every time you use ths bike. If it happens on the right hand guess what no ABS and a dash board like a christmas tree. Again dont worry it has happened to tha best of us. I have even had bikes recovered by Mondial only to be fixed on the back of the truck in about 1.2 seconds

The handguards should be free to move, to some extent, otherwise when they perform their function and protect your hands from a solid object, they will break

Of course they need to be tight enough so they don't just flop down and foul the levers. But you should be able to tighten the large bolt on the end of the bar to stop them flopping. If this doesn't work, perhaps the bolt is working loose from vibration? In which case remove it and apply some threadlock, then tighten it up to the required "floppiness" before the threadlock sets.

If you only ride on the road, and so probably won't be bashing the guards on stuff all the time, you can set them pretty tight.
