Clutch losing pressure

Hi,
I set off for a ride today and all felt well, until I came to a set off traffic lights.

It seems if I hold the clutch in for more than 30 seconds, the clutch slowly releases, like you're letting the clutch out slowly.

The lever feels like there is no pressure.

Normal riding is ok until you come to a stop and need to hold the clutch in.

Any ideas ?

I maybe should add, the bike is a 2005 gs, about 500 miles ago I dropped it, but it's been ok since. No fluid lostor visible.

I suspect the clutch slave cylinder... Pop the slave off the back of the gearbox and see if it's "wet".... p.s. it's not dot 4 clutch fluid, so don't top up with the usual clutch/brake fluid.

Thank you for your reply. I've got some V10 fluid on order.
I've also noticed the gear selector is not showing 1 anymore when 1st gear is selected.
All happened at the same time. Are they connected or coincidental.

similar happened to me while out on a ride. Mine was sudden. If I didn't pull away within 15 seconds, the clutch just let go!No fluid leaking, no signs of anything. PS I am no mechanic and this might have been more extreme! Bike had quite a few miles on it. Hope yours is simpler. But I had no warning, no leaks, no signs, no drop i fluid levels. Happened all of a sudden..

As Steptoe has said, i've got fluid and a slave cylinder on order.

I've read lots off Steptoe's posts in the past and believe if he has mentioned it,it's a good place to start.

Diplomatic Danny had this problem whilst riding through the streets of Gap. Watching his near-suicidal uncontrollable exits across streets of heavy French traffic was hilarious. Sadly he somehow survived.

We bought a can of LHM+ from a Supermarket and flushed his clutch hydraulics, the old fluid was jet black. It sorted it, but he got Bahnstormers to replace his master and slave cylinders on return to UK IIRC.

Replaced the Master cylinder and fluid.
